Job description

SAP Release Management Technical Expert
Location: Global / Hybrid
Sector: Retail

We are partnering with a leading global retail organisation to appoint an SAP Release Management Technical Expert to join their growing team.

This role is critical in ensuring the stability, consistency, and quality of SAP solution delivery across both Maintenance (RUN) and Project (BUILD) landscapes. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical validation of SAP releases (Minor, Monthly, Emergency) and ensuring alignment with governance standards and quality gates across the SAP environment.

This is a highly visible technical coordination role working across global regions.

Role Overview

You will act as the technical authority for SAP release validation, working closely with AMS teams, Technical Architecture, Basis, Developers, Functional Leads, and Project teams across EMEA, APAC, and AMER.

Key Responsibilities

Release Validation & Governance

  • Perform technical assessments on transports, dependencies, retrofit needs, and cross-domain impacts

  • Ensure compliance with architecture standards, integration constraints, security requirements, and Basis prerequisites

  • Validate release readiness through structured governance and quality checklists

Retrofit & Landscape Synchronisation

  • Support and maintain SAP Retrofit processes across project and maintenance landscapes

  • Identify object conflicts and coordinate resolution with development and AMS domain leads

Cross-Domain Technical Coordination

  • Collaborate with SAP leads across Finance, Retail, Supply Chain, MDM, BI, Security, and Basis

  • Act as the technical liaison between project teams and RUN operations to ensure smooth transitions and landscape stability

Risk, Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor release risks, defects, and mitigation plans

  • Lead post-release reviews and root cause analysis

  • Maintain release documentation, transport logs, and governance reporting

Required Expertise

  • Strong experience with SAP Transport Management (CTS+, ChaRM; CALM advantageous)

  • Solid understanding of SAP landscape architecture and multi-system environments

  • SAP ABAP knowledge with awareness of integration, security, and Basis impacts

  • Experience with dual landscape retrofit processes and SAP release governance

Skills

  • Strong coordination and stakeholder management across global teams

  • Analytical mindset with strong technical rigour

  • Clear communicator with structured documentation practices

  • Ability to operate during time-critical release windows

  • Fluent English required

Nice to have: experience with automation tools for transports, non-regression testing, or release orchestration.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a global SAP CoE environment where governance, stability, and technical excellence are key to large-scale SAP operations.
