SAP Release Management Technical Expert

We are partnering with a leading global retail organisation to appoint an SAP Release Management Technical Expert to join their growing team.
This role is critical in ensuring the stability, consistency, and quality of SAP solution delivery across both Maintenance (RUN) and Project (BUILD) landscapes. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical validation of SAP releases (Minor, Monthly, Emergency) and ensuring alignment with governance standards and quality gates across the SAP environment.
This is a highly visible technical coordination role working across global regions.
Role Overview
You will act as the technical authority for SAP release validation, working closely with AMS teams, Technical Architecture, Basis, Developers, Functional Leads, and Project teams across EMEA, APAC, and AMER.
Key Responsibilities
Release Validation & Governance
Perform technical assessments on transports, dependencies, retrofit needs, and cross-domain impacts
Ensure compliance with architecture standards, integration constraints, security requirements, and Basis prerequisites
Validate release readiness through structured governance and quality checklists
Retrofit & Landscape Synchronisation
Support and maintain SAP Retrofit processes across project and maintenance landscapes
Identify object conflicts and coordinate resolution with development and AMS domain leads
Cross-Domain Technical Coordination
Collaborate with SAP leads across Finance, Retail, Supply Chain, MDM, BI, Security, and Basis
Act as the technical liaison between project teams and RUN operations to ensure smooth transitions and landscape stability
Risk, Quality & Continuous Improvement
Monitor release risks, defects, and mitigation plans
Lead post-release reviews and root cause analysis
Maintain release documentation, transport logs, and governance reporting
Required Expertise
Strong experience with SAP Transport Management (CTS+, ChaRM; CALM advantageous)
Solid understanding of SAP landscape architecture and multi-system environments
SAP ABAP knowledge with awareness of integration, security, and Basis impacts
Experience with dual landscape retrofit processes and SAP release governance
Skills
Strong coordination and stakeholder management across global teams
Analytical mindset with strong technical rigour
Clear communicator with structured documentation practices
Ability to operate during time-critical release windows
Fluent English required
Nice to have: experience with automation tools for transports, non-regression testing, or release orchestration.
