We recently kicked off our first CSR initiative as part of our Conexus Community project. The project sees us give back to charities and causes in our hometown of Cardiff, South Wales. In celebration of opening our first international office in Barcelona earlier this year, along with moving into our state-of-the-art Cardiff HQ just a few months ago, as a team, we took on the challenge of running, walking and cycling the 748 miles in between the two locations, working out as 34 miles per team member. Clocking up that distance alone wasn’t quite challenging enough, so we decided to give ourselves just 3 weeks to get it done, from the 5th to the 25th of September. Our goal was to help foster positive mindsets, taking an energetic approach to fundraising for our charity partners, and to drive awareness and pride of social initiatives, locally and globally.
Throughout the challenge, we raised money for our chosen charity partner local to us in South Wales, Ty Hafan. Ty Hafan is a leading Welsh children’s charity which provides comfort and care to children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Through their vibrant hospice and diverse community programmes, they offer families support and help them make the most of the time they have together; creating precious memories and ensuring a short life is a full life. You can watch a short video on their incredible work below.
In true Conexus style, we thought we’d throw a bit of healthy competition into the mix by having our Contract and Perm team go head-to-head, and it’s safe to say the most competitive team members have now been identified. Despite a last minute final 123.4 miles added to the contract team's final total, in the end, the Perm team took the win with a huge 456.4 miles contributed to our final total.
We donned our green Ty Hafan t-shirts and clocked up our miles both individually and as a group, as well as getting some of our four-legged friends involved. We took advantage of our complimentary UFIT membership and spent a few of our lunchtimes racking up the miles as a team on the spin bikes! As a global business, we clocked our miles up internationally, taking to the streets of Cardiff and Birmingham, and the beaches of Barcelona. We’re very happy to report that we smashed our mileage target and finished with a whopping 793.26 miles under our belts, and we’re incredibly proud to have raised £1,368 for Tŷ Hafan. There’s still time to donate, and we’d really appreciate any support you can offer. You’re able to donate online here.
